Some people prefer to place a ring or berm of soil around the tree so it can be filled with water. A much better solution is to use a drip irrigation system and water enough so the soil becomes completely wetted down to the Shutters – Shades – Rolls base of the roots and out a foot or so beyond the drip line of the tree. If you do not have an irrigation system and must water with a hose you can still use a drip irrigation setup and water longer but more slowly so the soil is wetted completely.
Another way to create walls is to use sheet Styrofoam – such as is used for insulation and is sold in three-foot by eight-foot lengths at DIY centers – but it’s not trouble-free. The problem with Styrofoam is twofold. One, you can’t roll it up and put it in your back seat. It’s tough to transport unless you’ve got a pickup truck or a big van. Secondly, it will ‘bend’ and sag over your players, unless you reinforce it somehow – although it won’t sag as much as a fabric or paper wall will. However, the stuff is reasonably sturdy, can be painted – once it’s primed – and if you go all the way and build ‘joists’ with PVC pipe and connections, with sandbags at the base to keep it standing upright, you’ve got some nigh-permanent walls for your event.
Another alternative is a steel pipe frame. There are tools out there which you can use to make a curved pipe frame right at home. Or, you may be able to find a welder locally who can fabricate a frame for you right onsite.
The best way to avoid this is to purchase a frame made of aluminum. These frames tend to hold together much better and in the event of failure simply bend or break. Nothing in them will penetrate your tissues and synthetic-plastic remain in there.
The next most common external glazing system is double sided security tape. The tape is put on to the window frame during manufacture and the double glazed unit is then pressed onto it, allowing the external beads to be clipped into place. Use a Stanley knife / Box cutter to cut the tape. Hold the knife flat to the glass to avoid slicing into the frame. Cut all round the taped area and you should be able to get the putty knife in and slowly lever the glass unit out. Once the glass has been taken out you can then get a scraper and remove all the old tape from the window frame, taking care not to damage the frame. Then follow the instructions for removing the synthetic-plastic beads above.
Fourthly the use of titanium frames is very common. This is because this material is very light weighted, non corrosive and very durable. Stainless steel and Shutters – Shades – Rolls are also durable and light weighted, thus making these frames very popular.
Integrity of the frame – Steel frames are very susceptible to rust and corrosion, especially under the battery compartment. I have seen carts that otherwise look great, actually break in half due to battery acid seeping on, and eating the frame. Some manufactures, like Club Car, are now using fully welded Shutters – Shades – Rolls which do not rust, but are still susceptible to corrosion in the form of aluminum oxide (instead of iron oxide). Corroded aluminum has a heavy layer of white fuzzy powder, which is equivalent to rust. Stay away from any cart that you suspect has a frame problem. The cart could end up being totally useless to you later.
Carbon fiber frames are a more recent addition to bicycle construction. These frames are very light and can be quite stiff. These pvc frames are not as impact resistant as other frame materials. The beauty of carbon fiber is it can be fine tuned for strength during manufacturing.
UPVC windows are quite easy to clean and maintain. The same goes for uPVC doors. With other products like wood or aluminum, proper care must be taken not to damage the material. For wood, it has a tendency to shrink, flake, fade and peel. This means that the finishing needs to be redone every 5 years or so. If this is not done, there is a chance that the life of the material will be reduced and after a number of years, you will end up having to replace the window. The same goes for aluminum. In this case, you need to consider that it rusts. On the other hand, when it comes to cleaning uPVC, all that is needed is a cleaning agent and wet cloth to wipe off the dirt buildup.
If you want a window that will never rot and the freedom to have a variety of color choices… Shutters – Shades – Rolls is the best option and value of any window on the market. You lose these options with aluminum clad and vinyl replacement windows because the exterior of the windows are not paintable. PVC windows are made to look identical to a wood window thus keeping the classy look of a real wood window without the possibility of rot. Aluminum clad units and PVC units are as energy efficient as vinyl replacement windows. Even though these full units cost more than a vinyl replacement window, you will notice a huge difference in the appearance and will be glad you decided to pay a little extra.
Secondly, aluminum is a metal that tarnishes but doesn’t rust. They will outlast uPVC windows, often they are good for up to 60 years with a minimum of maintenance. The only problem with Shutters – Shades – Rolls is that sometimes they are easy to dent.
